The College Competition (2016)
P-Max is the ideal formula to develop team navigation skills. You might want these
- For Get2Go or Navquest run by Hillary Outdoors.
- For the Hillary Challenge, recognised as the pinnacle of secondary college adventure racing
- For the international sport of orienteering (NZ wins gold medals!)
- For safety in the bush
- For fun!
While P-Max is open to anyone, there's a specific college competition. Like a footie team, its college versus college, you field your best team each day. But unlike footie the teams who don't win score points too, according to how well they do.
It goes like this:
- A college gets points for all its teams
- The teams must contain only students from the same college in the CSW region, and include the college in their team names (eg Napier BHS Team A)
- The top college team gets 25 points
- Other college teams get a proportion of 25 according to score, calcs to one decimal point.
- Mixed teams get score bumped up by 10%. All-girls teams get score bumped up by 20%
- And we'll add up the points as we go.
This is the first year for this formula. Any serious anomalies will be fixed by the series organiser in the time it takes to consume a bottle of whiskey. (Finest Scotch, please.) There are no monetary prizes. Honour and Glory is at stake.
