With average entries of 80 per night, Mike and the other organisers are already talking about "what next?" Results including the series result have been posted.

85 people turned up last night 2 Mar to tackle the South Coast rogaine to find a big, rugged course that tested pace monitoring as well as fitness. Quite a few were caught out and some competitive scores were chomped up by time penalties.

Bill Edwards was a clear winner despite 2 minutes late and 10% individual penalties. This in spite of losing the contents of his backpack while bush-bashing between two tracks, and going back to search (successfully). Well done. The next places were close with Paul Abbott and Eva Lottermoser just edging out Michael Wood and Tony Brindle. Edwards now moves into the lead with 2142 ahead of Wood and Brindle who are on 2000. However its best three out of four so other teams with two good results may move into contention in the final event. Results have been posted.

Thanks to everyone for turning up, see you on the 16th at Worser Bay.

Series organiser Mike Sheridan wrote...

A huge turnout at Mt Vic on Wed night... Great job Rob and Jo for running the event so well.

A slight amendment to the results... Rob credited Allan and myself with the elusive # 25. Seeing as how many (few) found it we should not get the points...taking our score back to 810...a three way tie for first. Point ties in a rogaine then go to finishing order to sort out the "winner" - over to Rob and Jo to tell us the finishing order.

I'm not sure we will be running any more training nights if former pupils come along and beat the teachers... Quick learners.

Next event details - Wellington South Wed 2 Mar: Pre entry is now open. Organiser - Mark Hearfield. Times the same as before: 5.30pm registration open and maps available; 5.55pm briefing; and 6pm start. Start/Finish is the windmill carpark above Brooklyn (follow wind turbine signs). Pre registration by email to by Mon 28th gives you a free entry.

You may want to put in a jacket and polypro... conditions can get quite chilly up there especially in the dark. There is a gate over the road up to the windmill - this closes to uphill traffic at 8pm, but the gate opens for downhill traffic - so you can still get out after the event.

New Record Turnout at Mt Vic

Bill Edwards (who actually top-scored last time when he finally handed his sheet in) again got more points than anyone before the solo penalty; but the night belonged to Mike Sheridan and Allan Stowell, who move into the series lead with 1570 points.
