Top Saga Results for Squad Members

Cyclic Saga 13/14 March

NZ MTBO Squad members posted top results in the tenth Cyclic Saga, run last weekend near Flock Hill, Canterbury.

Jason Blair and Andy Rhodes were second and fourth in the mens class and outright, Craig Starnes was in the top veterans team and fifth equal overall, Meg Foulds and Claire Heppenstall were the second women, one place ahead of Rachel Smith, Di Michels and Christina Renhart.

Smith who was NZ's top woman in the Aust-NZ Challenge last year is no longer officially in the squad having announced her intention to move to Sweden to concentrate on foot-orienteering, but the others represent almost the entire squad. Only Stu Lynch and Phil Wood were absent.

Another great performance was put up by perhaps a squad member of the future. 16-year-old Duncan O'Regan with his Dad Des were fifth in the mens category! The Christs College student has already represented New Zealand in foot-orienteering, and has demonstrated an unusual ability for a teenager in endurance events in several rogaines.
