WOA Blast

Three different event types whipped into one weekend...

25-26 November 2017

Orienteering Hutt Valley has been running orienteering events for 40 years! It has pioneered new types of orienteering, run New Zealand Championships, and produced world champions! This year it is pleased to offer the Wellington Regional Championship in foot-orienteering, in the varied terrain on the Kapiti-Manawatu coast.

There will be a Sprint distance, Middle distance and Long distance event, on the weekend of 25-26 November. Just in time for the spring breezes to give you a push. Read more...

ORIENTEERING ON FOOT: "involves finding your way through unfamiliar terrain using a map." Competitions are usually individual, but groups are welcome too. Checkpoints may have to be visited in a certain order, or a time limit is set. Courses can take anything from 10 minutes up, with an hour quite common.

ORIENTEERING HUTT VALLEY began in 1976 and its 100-150 members run 30 events each year. Its forte is the development of new forms of the sport, from the sprint distance to rogaines and MTB-orienteeering. Follow in the footsteps of its world-level stars - Frank Smith, Linda Parker (now Mead), Antonia Wood, Laura and Tim Robertson.
