Chris Forne
SS1/NZ1
30yrs/PAPO
We used to say, "if he just got serious!" Well he has. The electrical engineering student ran so well in 2003 that he was selected for that year's World Champs without even being in the national squad! There he finished an amazing 30th in the sprint; was the only kiwi male to qualify for the long final; and finished a sound 44th. In Japan 2005 he went even better: 27th (sprint) and 28th (long). Based in Christchurch, where he is into the endurance thing including rogaines. Recipient of the PM's athlete scholarship for 2004-2006.
Karl Dravitzki
SS2/NZ6
28yrs/EgOC
From a well-known Taranaki running family and part of a strong group of juniors in the late 90's. Ran one of NZ's best JWOC races in the 1998 relay in France, and won the 2002 Superseries; but sat out the 2003 series after surgery. Results started coming back - middle-distance NZ champion in 2004, sprint champion 2005, and selection for WOC in Japan where an excellent 31st in the middle resulted. Holds the NZ k-rate record (4.33 in the Auckland MAPsport Park Race in 2001). Is a dairy farmer in Taranaki.
Neil Kerrison
SS3/NZ7
29yrs/EgOC
From tiny Mahoenui in the King Country, better known for the Piopio orienteering maps nearby. For many years a "bridesmaid", he won the Wellington Classic Champs in 2001 and showed his fitness with a win in the 2002 Hawkes Bay 12hr Rogaine. Then returned from OOE in 2003 to all but win the Auckland Championship - only Jorgensen was faster! WOC selection 2005. One of the instigators of the first Superseries, Kerrison is a business management graduate living in Auckland, and coaches the Development Squad.
Darren Ashmore
SS4/NZ3
34yrs/TOC
School teacher who worked in Auckland intermediate schools as an orienteering consultant, now an instructor at the Outdoor Pursuits Centre, Turangi. Spent time living and training with a Swedish club. 4 NZ long-distance and two middle titles to his credit, including the double in 2000. Sat out the 2005 nationals to ensure recovery from injury, selected for WOC where he scored 35th sprint, 34th middle.
Brent Edwards
SS5/NZ9
28yrs/CMOC
Grew up in Tauranga, part of that strong group who went through junior ranks in the late 90s. Solid performer but hadn't really sparked as a senior. Until 2005, when he took time out of his career as a policeman, raised his game, and was selected for WOC in Japan.
Mark Lawson
SS6/NZ4
42yrs/NWOC
Took up orienteering in his 30's and is pushing the younger NZ men hard; look at his Superseries results and NZ ranking. Big OOE in 2003 has filled out his experience. Attended JWOC in 2001 but then took time off top competition; briefly served as Coaching Director. Back into the fray in 2005 culminating in selection for WOC in Japan. Joined Aaron Prince's team at the last minute for the 2005 Southern Traverse, and came third!! Doing postgraduate legal study in Christchurch, with the help of a PM's Athlete scholarship.
Rob Jessop
SS8/NZ5
38yrs/AOC,PAPO
"Elder statesman" of the national squad who has had a long international career; coming back "from the wilderness" in 2003 to win both the long and middle-distance NZ championships, and the Superseries. Still extremely competitive, 1 second off second place in the Long NZ Championship 2005. NZ's best course planner at the concept level, ahead of its time ran the 1995 Auckland Short-O Champs on campus and park terrain. Works for an environmental consultancy in Christchurch.
Aaron Prince
SS9/NZ10
27yrs/PAPO
Brother to Lara so has those same athletic genes. Like Lara took up orienteering relatively late and progressed rapidly. In 2003 was a postie in Stockholm but returned to NZ in time for the Southern 6-day Outstanding adventure racer, second in the 2004 Southern Traverse, 3rd in 2005 which was the World Championship!
Bill Edwards

Carsten Jorgensen
SS20/NZ2
36yrs/PAPO
Top world-ranked orienteer who lives part of the year in NZ but is still in the Danish national team. Fourth in the 2003 world champs in the classic distance. Also a top cross-country and track runner, and his 1996 record for the Holdsworth-Jumbo Trail Race in the Tararuas has not been beaten. Usually lives in Christchurch with partner Jenni Adams but currently in Denmark and Sweden for a couple of years.
Ross Morrison
SS21/NZ-
21yrs/HBOC
Astonishing technical ability from an early age combined with running speed have given amazing results from this young Havelock North orienteer. Attended JWOC in 2002 but a mystery illness has prevented him from training properly since then. Nevertheless he ran well in the 2005 JWOC: 10th in sprint, 51st in the long. Began an engineering degree at Canterbury University in 2003, currently earning money in Wellington.
Alistair Cory-Wright
SS22=/NZ13
40yrs/PAPO
Another "Elder statesman" of the Squad whose rapidly greying hair should not be read as indication of reduced speed. 7th in the 2002 superseries (from only 5 races counting); 12th M35 in 2002 World Masters. Dabbles in Multisport and Adventure Racing, like 3rd in the 2-day Coast to Coast 2003! Looking to keep the youngsters in their place. Auckland born, lives in Chch and is a Health Project Manager.
Martin Peat
SS24/NZ19
21yrs/CMOC
One of the top juniors of 2005 (top-ranked M20), attended JWOC in Switzerland: 56th in the long distance. Breaking into senior ranks during the 2006 series.
Michael Adams
SS28=/NZ16

Perennial globetrotter and student, Adams shows flashes of brilliance from time to time. Between finishing off a masterate he has been working in theatre management in Christchurch (and often on tour round New Zealand!). Moved mid-2005 to Auckland
Tim Renton
SS30/NZ20
23yrs/AOC
Former NZ JWOC team member making the difficult transition to the elite ranks. Puts up some long times but has stickability:-))
Jeff Greenwood

Top vet (NZ's top-ranked M40) who came into the sport after his prime years; getting some competition that's missing from his own age group!
Keith Agmen

Promising junior held back by sickness. Hopefully coming right as he enters senior ranks. Nelson-raised, has completed an engineering degree in Christchurch.
Andrew McCarthy
SS35=/NZ18
25yrs/OHV
Former JWOC representative who had an unfortunate first year as a senior: broke a leg at the 2002 national relays! And he did the other one in Australia in 2004! Pity, as he's been climbing up the rankings and has some good mountain-running results. Completed a business degree and Teaching Diploma at Victoria University and is teaching in Wellington. NZOF Councillor for the WOA region.
