Dane Leads Superseries by Single Point

Carsten Jorgenson has taken the lead in the orienteering Superseries, with a 4-minute win yesterday in steep pine forest at Stillwater, on Auckland's east coast. The Danish star has 67 points, one more than Auckland's Rob Jessop, who finished second yesterday. Womens leader Rachel Smith (Chch) finished second to Tania Robinson (Auckland) but retains a comfortable 12-point lead over Penny Kane (Dunedin).

Behind the battle for the men's lead is an even fiercer one for third place, with five orienteers on 38 points. They are early leader Jason Markham, who was injured in the national relay championship on Tuesday and has returned home; Mark Lawson who couldn't get time off work for yesterday's race; Chris Forne, Jamie Stewart and Darren Ashmore. Robinson is third in the womens table, followed by Lisa Frith.

The next result to be counted will be the overall result of the Anzac series of four events finishing on Sunday, in which competitors are allowed to discount their worst run. The series will finish with two races in the Wairarapa at Queens Birthday weekend.
