Kiwis in Australian Rogaining Champs 2006
Barklys Hope, Victoria, 13-14 May 06
Ex-kiwis figured in the top two mixed teams in Oz Rogaining Champs on 13-13 May -
including the winning team! Karl Strode-Penny is a kiwi living in Australia and with
Julie Quinn won by nearly 200 points. Vivien Prince seems to divide her time between
both countries, and finished 7th overall with Richard Robinson.
Other kiwi teams, all in the top third of the field:
- Alan and Robert Holdaway, from Blenheim; 14th
- Pete Squires, Anne and Bill Kennedy, Christchurch; 15th
- Henry Beex, Mark Struthers, Dennis Litt, sure I've met these names before; 25th
- Rob Newbrook and Sue Scott, the people behind the successful Sec School rogaines in Taranaki; 39th
- Glen Warner and Debbie Mansfield from Lower Hutt; 44th. Debbie writes...
Glen and I have just returned yesterday from
doing the Austrialian Rogaining Champs in Melbourne on the weekend, and we
are shattered - we reckon we travelled over 80km, the body is certainly
telling me that it needs a rest, blisters everywhere and tired legs, so we
have decided to have a rest for a few weeks and get back into it, aiming for
the Marlborough 12 hour in June. Good luck for this weekend. We would love
to be there as it was one of the best events we did last year.
- Mark, Julian and Paul Minehan; 48th. Paul works at Mainly Tramping in Wellington.
