2004 Green Coast NZ Rogaine Champs Announced

Electronic Punching to be Used

With landowner permissions now in place the Green Coast New Zealand Rogaine Champs for 2004 are confirmed for the fantastic rolling limestone country of Wairamarama, Auckland South, for 6/7 March 2004.

Staged by the Auckland Orienteering Club and with outdoors equipment supplier Green Coast as principal sponsor, these Champs promise to be a special event. Combined with the superb rolling farmland and bush terrain of the Wairamarama/Limestone Downs area, the Wairamarama Rogaine will make first use of the SportIdent control punching system for a rogaine in New Zealand. The event centre will be a rural hall in the heart of the rogaine area, manned by volunteers from the local farming community.

While the Championship Rogaine will be for the standard 24 Hour duration (1.00pm Saturday to 1.00pm Sunday), the event will also offer a 16 Hour option (9.00pm Saturday to 1.00pm Sunday) and a 6 Hour option (7.00am to 1.00pm Sunday). The unique 16 Hour option will allow participants to experience the thrill of night-time rogaining without the exertion of a full 24 Hour event.

Team categories across all 3 events will be the international rogaining standard Mens, Womens and Mixed Open, Mens, Womens and Mixed Veterans (each team member to be 40 years of age or older) and, dependent on entries, an Open Super Veterans category (combined members' ages to exceed 55 years' per member).

Entry Forms will be posted on this site within the next week. Enquiries can be made to Mark Copeland.
