The time limit will be 2 hours, with registration opening at 12:00, briefing at 12:45, and everyone starting at 1:00. It will be Julian's call whether you get a look at the map in advance or only at 1:00. To get there, head to Brooklyn and follow "Wind Turbine" signs which will take you up the windmill road, and orienteering signs will take you further on to the start. It's probably 5-6km from downtown Wellington.
If the day is fine the views will be exhilirating! So will the wind, that's why there's a windmill there! No matter what it feels like at home, bring a thermal layer and a windproof top. On the other hand it's entirely possible for there to be exposure conditions on the tops. Julian may have to make last-minute changes such as declaring certain controls off-limits, etc. The area is big enough to do this and still have plenty left:-)) If the forecast is bad it will be worth re-checking here, the website could be updated up to midnight Friday.
Meanwhile in Christchurch the Night Navigation Series in Bottle Lake Forest this month includes a MTB category, while Claire Heppenstall is orchestrating a Hanmer MTBO weekend on 24-25 September. Keep an eye on the MTBO Calendar.
