Christine and John de Roo, of Whitby, won the bike category at the opening event in Hutt Valley Orienteering Club's "Quattr-O" series on June 20.
"Quattr-O" refers to the series of four urban orienteering events, with four course lengths at each one. Participants in the longest course have to visit any 12 out of 15 control points, in the fastest possible time.
The winners completed the course in 33min40. Fastest solo rider was the event organiser Michael Wood who took 37min17. For comparison, the fastest foot-orienteer was 40min29.
