Interest in World Champs Canvassed

Many sports at the Commonwealth Games were disappointed with fourth placings. Isn't it great to be in a sport where fourth place is hailed as an outstanding achievement:-))Since the 2004 World MTB-Orienteering Champs in Australia last year, they have become annual and the next one will be 9-14 July at Joensuu, Finland.

We know that Marquita Gelderman (4th in the 2005 Short-distance Final) is planning to attend, but the process for formal selection and team nomination hasn't been set up. This is a result of the relatively young stage of MTBO in New Zealand.

The webmaster has undertake to compile a list of those interested. The MTBO Committee will then make a recommendation to the NZOF Selectors based on recent performance in MTBO events. Interest should be registered with by 30 April 2006. Candidates need to belong to a club affiliated to NZOF, and hold a NZ passport.
