More MTBO at Rotorua

Whaka Forest, 5 Sep

• Location: Whakarewarewa Forest, starting at the “Green Lake Picnic Area” 10km south of Rotorua on SH5
• Time: 5 September 2004, starts from 11am to 1pm
• Courses:
  1. Kids Kourse 2km (White) grade 2 riding
  2. Sunday Ride 8.5km (Yellow) grade 3 riding
  3. Fabulous Fun 22km (Orange) grade 4 riding
  4. A Little Insane 35km (Orange) grade 4 riding

These riding grades sound useful for describing courses and establishing expectations... Kent has also agreed to let the NZ team train on the area, as some of them will be riding in Victoria during on that September weekend (trials for the Australian team, AKA spying out the opposition!)

In other event news, the next Wellington Series event has moved forward a week, it will now be on 14 August. Rob Harrow and Jo Forbes are planning courses on Makara Peak MTB Park. And Julian Cox is mapping Long Gully (site of the NZ X-C Champs earlier this year) for the final on 18 September.

And in Christchurch the Night Navigation Series in Bottle Lake Forest in September includes a MTB category, while Claire Heppenstall is orchestrating a Hanmer MTBO weekend on 24-25 September. Keep an eye on the MTBO Calendar.
