Alex Randall and Carolyn Jackson are the open mens and womens MTBO Champions for 2000. The titles were decided near Canberra on 5 November.
Clearly the terrain was not as "meaty" as at Hanmer, with similar course lengths of 25 and 20km, but winning times shorter at 70 and 64 minutes.
And in spite of Australia having "a few" more citizens than New Zealand, the number of starters was exactly the same at 71! There were more juniors than in NZ (11), and conversely fewer seniors. They ran M and W classes in age groups of under 13, 13-15, 16-20, open, 35-49 and 50+ There's more info on the very swish Oz MTBO site.
