Kiwis Shine in Australian MTBO Champs

Renhart and Michels 6-7th Open Women

Hard on the heels of the NSW Champs, Christina Renhart crossed the Tasman again for the Australian Champs at Canberra last weekend. Dianne Michels made the trip as well, and the two women finished 6th and 7th in the long-distance race. Michels also won the short-distance race in the veteran womens class.

The two championships were held on the same map, the pine-forested Kowen Homestead. Renhart had a smooth race but Michels felt she was affected by some dodgy mapping and lost over 10 minutes time. Both were very happy to be in the top half of the field, which was won by World silver medallist Emily Viner. The mens race was won by Australia's leading man Alex Randall.
