"We were always going to get the Canterbury enthusiasts, with previous MTBO courses run by PAPO and 6 years of Cyclic Saga in Canterbury," said Clayton. "But to get so many crossing the ditch makes it a genuine national championship. We've got entrants from Auckland, Gisborne, New Plymouth and Palmerston North, and of course Wellington where a four-event series of events has just finished. We've also got entrants from Queenstown, and from two Swedish orienteers who are studying in Christchurch."
The final event information sent to competitors shows fairly hefty
course lengths of 25km (open men), 19km (open women, vet and junior
men), and 12.5km for the vet and junior women. The event will be followed
on the Sunday by a score event with a 2-hour time limit. Late entries
are still possible by contacting
Andy Clayton.
