NZ MTBO Champs Entry Form

Embargo on Part of Woodhill Forest

Now available, click here for the 490k file in pdf format. You'll need Acrobat to read it, if you don't have it look in www.adobe.com/acrobat Ordinary entries close on 22 Oct and this guarantees you a map with the course neatly printed on the map for you; late entries are possible but you may have to copy the course onto your map in race time, so you'll start off at a disadvantage! It's not a requirement to be a member of an orienteering club this year, unless you want to win a title.

You can take a look at the similar area used for the preliminary events (200k) by clicking on the small sample. Note that there appear to be lots of contours but as they are at 5m they are less significant than the 10m used at Hanmer and Wairarapa, and the 20m used in some other maps. This area, and we guess a good part of the championship area, is basically flat, with just a few short sharp climbs, and a bigger issue is the softness of the sand as shown by the track symbols.

The championship area is embargoed, which means that is you want to be in the championship you are forbidden to go there until after the champs. Here is the description. "The area bordered by Restall Road, Inland Road, Puketapu Road, Coast Road, and Pulpit Rock Road. No riding or running through this area is authorised. For any queries, contact the event controller Rob Crawford Ph 09 574 5997 or 021 499 037"

Can I hear you getting out your topo maps???
