Night Riding comes to MTB-Orienteering

Bivouac Night Navigation Series, Bottle Lake, Christchurch

Night riding is popular with bikers, and night orienteering is popular with orienteers on foot, especially in Scandinavia. Now Christchurch members of the national orienteering squad have put the two together in the Bivouac Night Navigation series of events.

The events will be held in Bottle Lake Forest, just on the edge of Christchurch. The flat area is criss-crossed by a network of tracks, many made specially for MTB. The events will be in the score format, which means that you have a fixed amount of time to do as much as you can; just like the Cyclic Saga but on a shorter timescale. The event also caters for foot-orienteers at the same time, so there'll be lights everywhere!

The dates are 12, 19 and 26 September. Registration opens at 6pm, briefing at 6:45, start at 7pm. I don't know how long you get, but probably about an hour. Enquiries to Rachel Smith at 03 377 9686.
