For the second year there wil be a series of night-orienteering events in the popular Bottle Lake Forest on the outskirts of Christchurch - including MTB-orienteering. Last year the series was organised by current NZ champions Jason Markham and Rachel Smith, although we hear that Markham may be moving to Wellington (watch out Cox and Starnes!!)
And the series leads into a 3-hour Rogaine/MTBO at Hanmer. We have no details yet, but this looks like a "visit as many controls as you can" event, with classes for competitors on foot and on bikes. Hanmer Forest was the site of the first NZ Championships in MTB-orienteering in 2000, and has an extensive network of forest roads, skidder trails and single-track.
