NZ Rider Just Misses World Champs Medal


Marquita Gelderman missed the bronze medal in the opening event at this year's World Mountain Bike Orienteering Championships by 22 seconds. Gelderman placed 4th in the sprint event at the champs being held in Ostroda, Poland. The Helensville orienteer also placed 4th at the 2005 champs in the middle distance event which is the next event on this year's programme. Best of the others in the six-strong New Zealand team was Emily Wall (Christchurch), who placed 36th, behind Gelderman, in a field of 53.
