New Faces for MTBO Committee
Numbers back up to Five
After a shakeout of inactive members, the NZOF MTB-Orienteering Committee is back up to
five members. The new members are:
- Rob Garden, current national mens veteran champion, and heavily involved in the training
week in Victoria last year. Rob is also a driving force behind the MTBO events in Auckland.
- Christina Renhart, arranger of the smart team kit for the NZ team which contested the
Aust-NZ Challenge last year. Christina has also written heaps of articles for biking publications
extolling MTBO, and is also involved in the current Auckland series. However she will shortly
move to Christchurch.
- Claire Heppenstall, organiser of a number of MTBO training sessions at Christchurch,
and planning a series of events there. Claire rode for UK in the first World Champs in France.
The other members of the committee are Trevor Knowles, Convenor, and Michael Wood, who is acting
as manager of the national squad. If you would like to help the committee in any way or have
any issues to discuss, contact Trevor.
As a very new part of the sport there is heaps to do, both at the competition end with a
World Champs nearby in October, and at the participation end where we really don't have enough
"entry-level" events yet, and none at all in some parts of the country.
