NZ Accepts the Challenge (Part II)

The coordinator for the Australia-New Zealand MTBO team is temporarily Michael Wood. NZOF MTBO committee convenor Andy Clayton will be out of the country for a crucial period during which we must decide which classes we will contest.

The challenge will potentially be contested in up to 4 mens and 4 womens classes: 18 and under, open, 40+ and 55+, with the open classes compulsory; but the travelling country can nominate three months beforehand which of the other classes it wants to contest. Indications of interest are urgently sought by Michael Wood by 15 June . NZOF has a selection panel which is expected to seek advice from the MTB-Orienteering Committee on the actual team selection. The challenge will also be open to riders not in their national teams.

With the "on-again, off-again" NZ MTBO Champs currently in the "off" position, candidates are urged to take part in as many events as they can, particularly the Wellington Champs (2/3 August). Efforts are being made to arrange races on the area used for the 2002 NZ Champs in Woodhill Forest, Auckland.
