ISOM2017 Advice for Mappers Changes to our Maps as a result of ISOM2017, advice for mappers. On behalf of the ONZ Mapping Committee. Pre-release version, will show up on ONZ soon.
Master Legend for ISOM2017, OCAD Master Legend, of all symbols in ISOM2017, with symbol numbers. On behalf of the ONZ Mapping Committee. Fits on a page at 1:7500 (print it out for guidance in the field) or you can copy bits to make an actual legend. This is in OCAD version 12 format.
Master Legend for ISOM2017, PDF Master Legend, of all symbols in ISOM2017, with symbol numbers. On behalf of the ONZ Mapping Committee. Fits on a page at 1:7500 (print it out for guidance in the field). This is in PDF format.
CRT file for Vanilla OCAD symbols Cross reference table to go from the OCAD-provided ISOM2000 symbols, to an ISOM2017 set. On behalf of the ONZ Mapping Committee. OCAD provides one of these but this one has extensive comments to assist editing, which you will undoubtedly have to do. (Note: some computers think files with an extension of CRT are security certificates. It is provided here as a TXT file. Before using it with OCAD you'll have to change the extension to CRT.)
MAPsport's ISOM2017 Symbol Extensions DESCRIPTION of a set of symbol and colour extensions from the OCAD default for a 1:15000 ISOM2017 map. This is early days, still coming to grips with the new spec, but pleasing to see some of my extensions incorporated in the std OCAD symbol set. Haven't incorporated colour table tweaks yet.
OCAD 11 file for above DRAFT OCAD 11 file containing a set of symbol and colour extensions from the OCAD default for a 1:15000 ISOM2017 map. PLUS MAPsport's hidden symbols. Make a 1:10,000 version using the enlarge/reduce symbol feature.
CRT file for above DRAFT Cross reference table to go from the ISOM2000 file with MAPsport extensions, to an ISOM2017 file with MAPsport extensions. Work in progress. (NB my computer thinks crt files are security certificates. I have provided it here as a text file. Before using it with OCAD you'll have to change the extension to crt.)
MAPsport's ISOM2000 Symbol Extensions Description of a set of symbol and colour extensions from the OCAD default for a 1:15000 ISOM2000 map. All mappers have some extensions, the value of this is the consistency in symbol/colour numbering. Includes the MTBO symbols (NZ version).
MAPsport's Hidden Symbols Description of a set of symbols to aid the cartographer behind the scenes. Such symbols are hidden on production maps. Many mappers use temporary symbols like these, the value of this is the consistency in symbol/colour numbering, and keeping clear of the "proper" numbers.
OCAD 11 file for above OCAD 11 file containing a set of symbol and colour extensions from the OCAD default for a 1:15000 ISOM2000 map. PLUS MAPsport's hidden symbols. Make a 1:10,000 version using the enlarge/reduce symbol feature.
MAPsport's Combination Park/Sprint Symbols Description of a set of symbol and colour extensions from the OCAD default for a 1:5000 ISSOM map, to fix the stupidities especially for natural terrain. Many ISOM symbols are incorporated at 150%. A careful path has been trodden between somewhat different colour orders and numbers.
OCAD 11 file for above OCAD 11 file containing a set of symbol and colour extensions from the OCAD sprint default to make them suitable for both urban and natural terrain. PLUS MAPsport's hidden symbols, translated onto the park/sprint colour numbering. Scale 1:5000.
NZ Topo50 Map Extents Supplied by Land Information New Zealand. There used to be a table on their website but has disappeared. Perhaps they think everything is seamless these days, but there are a number of times when we need to know the map ID, for example the imagery tiles use this in their naming convention. These are NZTM coordinates.
NZMS260 Map Extents Supplied by Land Information New Zealand. It used to be on their website but in the excitement of going over to the NZTopo50 maps they threw this baby out with the bathwater! These are NZMG coordinates.
