Wellington MTB-Orienteering Championship 2003 Results

The timing calculations have now been checked; and we revisited those scores too. There might still be the odd error which we'll be glad to correct, but we can now call these the checked results.

And let's record that the sport prizes of a Platypus Breakaway hydration system went to Hilary Miller, and the Thermatech top to Claude Dabaliz. These and the orienteering sox for some of the merit prizes were supplied by the MAPsport Shop which also has the Miry Pro mapholder and those Casio watches that let you record your split times for each leg of the course.

CLASSIC EVENT Saturday 2 Aug

* Open men: we mismatched some finish times and got at least Claude wrong initially. This is what our detective work suggests, it is possible there are one or two other errors remaining. Please advise us.

SCORE EVENT Sunday 3 Aug
2 hours, max score 660
We didn't manage to get all the times so haven't managed to split the ties by finish order as we should have.

Stuart and Craig's controls (not in this order):
Stuart 1, 3, 6, 8, 9; Craig 1, 4, 6, 8, 9
Stuart 12, 13, 14, 15, 18; Craig 11, 15, 16
Stuart 19, 20, 22, 25, 26, 27; Craig 19, 20, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26
Stuart 28, 30; Craig 28, 29, 30

Looking at it another way, they both visited 1, 6, 8, 9, 15, 19, 20, 22, 25, 26, 28, 30.
Stuart (but not Craig) visited 3, 12, 13, 14, 18, 27
Craig (but not Stuart) visited 4, 11, 16, 23, 24, 29
Neither visited 2, 5, 7, 10, 17, 21.
So Craig grossed 30 more points but lost 40 on lateness. One minute earlier and Stuart would still have won because ties are broken on finish time. Two minutes earlier would have made the difference!
