Melling Park/Trail Event
Orienteering Hutt Valley 9 Oct 05
It was a beautifully fine, warm and calm day for some relaxed casual orienteering,
enjoyed by those below. The most popular course used both Hutt River banks between
the Melling and Kennedy-Good bridges – occasional forays to controls next to the
clear sparkling waters (inhabited by trout).
- Five courses on four different base maps
- Course 1 white course entrants all did very well.
- The street event had controls at the homes of four OHV club members,
and Philippa Henderson thoughtfully placed refreshment at their letterbox.
- Two entries used bikes
- The Visser-Fee bike group towed son Christopher on the Western Hills for a
commendable rogaine performance.
- There comes a time when kids start orienteering faster than their
parents – this has arrived rather early for Anna Robertson, beaten by
W12 daughter Laura. Feeble excuse dismissed: had the wrong control list. :-)
