Lovely day! Thanks to everyone who turned up, my impression was you all enjoyed yourself despite the vanishing controls. An unfortunate fact of life when we have races in public areas. I have to admire the imagination behind the "east corner of building" being transplanted to "building, upper part" but wish they had stopped there. I'm glad I thought to provide a longer yellow-ish course as that was particularly popular, with even some of the newcomers stepping straight up from the white to the "explorer" for their second go.

The Heads and Trails concept worked really well, with everyone coming back bubbling. A few admitted to having trouble adjusting to the scale whenever they changed maps, or finding the park navigation quite a challenge after coming off the streets - exactly what I wanted to hear! I'd intended to take split times for as many people as possible as they came through the transitions, but was too busy chasing and replacing disappearing controls. But I can tell you that Bill got through the park loop in 10:43 (for 1.65 km). Anyone else think they came close? I'm sorry I underestimated the winning times by just a tad - maybe I'm getting fitter and faster than I realise. But most were happy to have had a long run. The concept could use a bit of fine tuning in some areas, but I hope a few other course-setters give it a try from time to time: if for no other reason, I'd like to have a go some time!

Creativity awards go to the surprising number of people who drew the concrete blocks at W3 as well as counting them, and to someone I won't name (but whose initials might be J, v and D) who tells me that the 3 letter code on the pylon was "2", and that there were "GYT" earth mounds on the BMX track.

And big thanks to those who helped out (and those who offered but I couldn't find jobs for) on the day, especially Bruce Henderson who came despite not being able to run, and basically held the fort ALL day while I was off playing security guard.
