OHV Double OY

Kapiti Coast 11 Oct 15

Webmaster note: You registered in your usual OY class today so that points can be calculated. But because these events were conceived as very short distance, not all of the usual OY courses were set. So for example "Red Long Men" and "Red Medium Men" may have been the same course. I'm not 100% sure whether this applied to Tukutuku, but it certainly did at Waikanae.

So you can potentially look at the results either by "Class" (the basis for OY points) or by "Course".

Firstly well done to all that braved the Maungakotukutuku Valley again, and apologies to those whose race was affected by control number 43 distinctive tree. The Red Medium and Red Short courses have been voided as a result of this.

83 of you headed out on a fabulous spring day into this technical and challenging area on courses that turned out long for middle distance. It is a tough map, not physically appreciated by all, but many enjoyed the complex navigation required and the lack of gorse, blackberry and steep hills. Pat and I thank all who passed on feedback and positive comments.

Today was the first time that OHV have used the tablet based self registration system, and it seemed to work pretty well. Thanks to Alan Horn and Rob Collier for helping us to get it going, and for giving us your competitor archive, so it recognised most of the competitors.

It was also a first for the toilet with a view! What to do when you arrive with no poles for the toilet tent - nice work Michael! Also thanks to Yvette Baker who helped us put out control standards on Saturday. Today was a very long day and it helped that yesterday was easier. Carting multiple standards through Supple Jack can be interesting.
