Planner Simon writes... Thanks to all of those who turned up to the event at Belmont today. I hope you had time while out on the course to take in some of the great views. Belmont is a steep course and while not navigationally too hard route choice is very important. When planning the course I tried to ensure that most legs had options that didn't have too much climb. While the direct route was up and down there was normally an alternative that may have been a bit longer but was easier on the legs and the lungs. Some climb however, was inevitable. The winning time for Red Long at an OY event is supposed to be around 65 minutes - Jamie Stewart was the fastest at 55"40", so we weren't too far off. Red Medium was probably about right also, while the concensus was that Red Short was a bit long, although 3 people completed it in under 45 minutes. The other courses were also probably a little bit long - well done in particular to those on Yellow and White - these were not easy and you all did really well. Apologies to those on Red Long and Red Medium for control 40 which was misplaced - it should have been further down the watercourse.
