64 entries turned out at Titahi Bay on what turned out to be a lovely evening, clear but cool....Great to see nearly everyone finishing early, maybe it was because I was organising and not competing.... Overall Paul Chaplow & Rob Harrow top scored with 760 out of a possible 890. Do they carry the number 1 seeding into the Tararua 24 if Chris Forne doesn't turn up ???? Also good to see so many first timers out there and people travelling from as far away from Palmy North.

Note from result assistant - times in brackets are the whole minutes. In all cases there were seconds as well so eg 8:26 plus some seconds is into the second minute and therefore 20 points off. The other thing that finish time is used for is to split ties.

After a bad weather start the weather improved for a while then got steadily windier. The 52 competitors reported a cryptic course with a couple of misplaced controls. Many competitors completed the diving pool control (adjacent to the start at Keith Spry Swimming Pool) but suggested that with fine weather it could have been an excellent control.

With a wide variety of controls and a possible total of 3220 points the low scores suggest a difficult course and challenging weather. No injuries were reported and all competitors completed the course within 5 minutes of the 9:00PM finish. Second place getters Rob and Paul missed out on a sausage from the Barbie at the finish, they were last to finish. Apart from time penalties sausage loss is a great incentive for finishing on time!
